Zingelbacks
My name is Lisa Zingel
As a young girl, horses and hounds were my prime interest. I worked as a kennel maid at the famous Irish Setter kennel Red Tails, where I had a lot of responsibilities on my young shoulders. Besides the daily exercise of the setters, I took part in caring for the bitches during their whelping and in feeding and cleaning the puppies. I also went with the kennel to different shows around Sweden, learning a lot about handling and caring for a show dog.
Already at that age, I had a dream of once having a litter of my own.
I was hoping that my first bitch Gotchi – (Ökensandens Great Gotchi, born in 1995) would produce that litter for me, but unfortunately she had elbow dysplasia. Gotchi was a fantastic teacher and kept a guarding eye on our daughter Agnes, who grew up with her – so fantastic to see. The show ring was nothing for Gotchi, we tried several time, but she never liked it. Read more about Gotchi!
In 2006, after one year of mourning period after Gotchi, I started to look for another puppy, and naturally from the same lines as Gotchi, and I found kennel Zaxxon’s. Long awaited, most loved ”Zmilla” Zaxxon’s Coolqueen Curry by Ch Emoyeni’s Grand Zuberi ”Lex” and out of Zaxxon’s Queen Akilah moved in to us in 2007. Unfortunately a pyometra put the end to our dreams about having a litter from her, but we had 11 fantastic years together and she has taught me so much and most of all she was my best friend ever. In 2009 Zmilla’s breeder, Lotta Malmborg, and I started to look for a bitch to co-own, living with me. We made our mind on a bitch puppy from kennel Murumbi out of Ch Dea Deacora’s Bisquit and by Ch Tolasanas Sitanka. Ciara moved in to us and Zmilla became her big sister. To our huge disappointment Ciara had a slight hip dysplasia. Life is not always what you dream of, but my hounds are my family, so naturally Ciara stayed with me.
In 2012, a very special litter was born at kennel RidgeRules by ”Arif” Ch Faira Arif Kamilifu and out of ”Nike” Ch African Braveheart’s Fourever Yours and I followed the litter with great interest as Nike is one of my favourites – a most fantastic bitch. Nike is bred by kennel African Braveheart’s and the owner of that kennel, Caroline Olausson, picked a male, ”Nox”, in the litter. In 2013 Caroline realized that a strong male like Nox couldn’t cope with her other two males and asked me to co-own him with her. For me it was not a question – Nox was an amazing male born in a fantastic litter and in August Nox moved to me and my pack at the courtyard we then were living in. He loved the life in the country and Zmilla and Ciara adored him! So wonderfully to have a male in my pack, giving it such a balance … Read more about Nox
For me the life together with ridgebacks makes every day a joy to experience and having a pack with both males and females is so instructive.
To be able to give my ridgebacks the time they need, the number of ridgebacks in my house is kept to a minimal number. At present I have three ridgebacks in my household; Ciara, Nox and two years old Goliat. Read more about Goliat!
It is now 25 years since my first ridgeback came into my life, so I am extremely happy to be able to have my first own litter with my own prefix in 2020 out of Nox’s daughter Leo Tino’s Hope Of Happiness. Read moe about Alice!
Showing ridgebacks is my favourite occupation. At present I am showing my own Goliat, but it’s an honour to be asked to show other breeder’s dogs.
